Proud of Braden!!!

If you get the Friend church magazine, check out May 2008, page 19. (The link we had was bad. Sorry. Read story below in comments section.) It’s a way cool story from a little over a year ago that happened with our second son, Braden and Amy. My dad told the story in his Stake Conference last May when they had the General Authority (I think Elder Jensen) with them that is in charge of church magazines. He said it was exactly what they were looking for for stories in the Friend. So we sent it in a year ago and never heard anything, until it came in the mail over the weekend. Pretty cool deal.

We are very proud of Braden. We are also proud of the reaction from his siblings, particularly Drex. He made a bunch of copies of it and was excited to take them to school to show everyone about his little bro. Very cool!

If you look at the illustration in the story, however, Amy is not thrilled that her first representation in a church magazine includes her crying and floral couches. But, you can't have everything you want, I guess. :) Braden did used to have dinosaur pajamas though, so that's fun.

What's up with this message I get when I try to read the Friend?
"The requested object does not exist on this server. The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate, or the server has been instructed not to let you have it." I don't think it's very nice of the server to not let me have it. That's so cool that Braden got to be in the Friend though!

Sorry about the link not working. Again, we're new here. But here is the story. You'll have to check out the actual illustrations in your copy of the Friend.

Following an Impression
By Gary R., as told to Sarah Cutler Braden R., age 6, Arizona

Gary R. and Sarah Cutler, “Following an Impression,” Friend, May 2008, 19

One night Braden was sitting in his bedroom playing a game. He thought he heard someone crying, but who could that be? Braden kept playing with his game. Then he heard the crying again. Something told him that he should go downstairs, and that maybe he could help. He got up and went downstairs.

His mom was sitting on the sofa, crying. What would make his mother feel better? He began cleaning up the living room. Then he put some ice in a cup for her. She was expecting a baby and liked ice.

His mother hugged him. She told him that she was feeling sick and lonely because Dad was out of town on business. She had asked Heavenly Father to please send someone to help her. Braden told her about the feeling that he should come downstairs. His mother told him that the feeling was the Holy Ghost, and that by following the Holy Ghost he had been an answer to her prayer.

I saw the story...it's very cute. You guys must be great parents to have a son so in tune to the promptings of the Spirit.

I'm glad you're starting a blog. I like knowing what's going on in the lives of people I never see, but often think about. (:

And your daughter is beautiful!

I am thrilled with those who blog and allow those of us who are too chicken to blog a chance to sneak a peek into their world.

You have possibly the sweetest, most beautiful children on the planet.

I almost called you last week because I was wondering what the Ras fam was up to. Now, I know. Thanks for including me :)

just as Peter told you, he shared Braden's story for FHE tonight (yes, we're heathens 'cause sometimes we have FHE on a night of the week other than Monday)...that's so neat that it got printed in the Friend! the boys were trying hard to remember Drex & Braden, but i don't think they quite conjured up their memories. :) you could tell they were impressed though! ...i had a good laugh about what you said, Matt, about Amy's reaction to seeing her crying on a floral couch--i think i'd feel the same way! :)
